Feel the spirit of Christmas
This year has been extraordinary in so many ways and the second lockdown has curtailed many activities and events that we usually enjoy as part of the festive season and build up to Christmas. The enjoyment of Christmas markets, shopping for presents and the switching on of the twinkling lights that festoon our town centres and prominently placed Christmas trees, will have to wait until next year.
So this year, maybe more than any other, we need to feel that unique Christmas spirit that celebrates what’s good in the world. Improving our wellbeing often comes from simple acts and pleasures. A smile and a few friendly words can make a huge difference. Acts of kindness, however small, can brighten the darkest of days. A walk in the park, on a beautiful autumnal day, accompanied with family members or a friend, is in itself a simple pleasure. When combined with the treat of coffee and cake, it becomes an enjoyable outlet.
The Cheltenham Trust has kept its Heritage Café at the Pittville Pump Room open, offering a takeaway option. This week we’re embracing the Christmas spirit introducing Christmas cake and mince pies and homemade turkey and cranberry pastries, speciality sandwiches and Paninis to enjoy with mulled wine or cider with a mince pie for only £6, or our popular hot chocolate.
If you’re struggling to feel the spirit of Christmas this year, maybe a visit to Pittville Park and a stop off at the Heritage Café will help provide that sparkle, and renew the belief that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.
